Untangle the mysteries of M2M - A Preview of M2M Zone's Seminar at CeBIT 2010
When tomorrow's M2M Zone Seminar, M2M: Energy, Transportation, Telehealth, begins at 2 PM, two of Europe's most integral M2M players will kick things off.
Georg Steimel, Chairman of Germany-based M2M Alliance,
will welcome his countrymen and those from around the world. The
Alliance, a partner in the launch of M2M Zone at CeBIT, includes
Vodafone, Telefónica o2 Germany, Telit, Sierra Wireless, Cinterion
Wireless Modules, Wyless, and Digi International. Steimel will convey the Alliance's views and highlight the benefits and the economic relevance of M2M.
He will then pass the baton to Omar Ellouimi, Vice Chair of ETSI's M2M activities. Ellouimi will provide an update on these activities and an overview of ETSI's efforts across Energy, Transportation and Telehealth. This will include some focus on "The ETSI M2M Challenge:"
- M2M technical solutions are highly fragmented and usually dedicated to a single application (e.g. fleet management, meter reading)
- Multitude of technical solutions and disperse standardization activities result in the slow development of the M2M market
- Standardization is a key enabler to remove the technical barriers and ensure interoperable M2M services and networks
